Wilbert Cares
In honor of Valentine’s Day, I am sharing a little about what fills our hearts at The Wilbert Group. We call it Wilbert:Cares, and it is about giving back to the community where we live and the industries in which we work. At the end of 2019, we tried for the first time to quantify our pro bono work and created a report that we mailed to our clients and friends this week.
We made a commitment to do even more in 2020. We recently began doing pro bono work for the Atlanta Affordable Housing Fund, including securing a story in the Atlanta Business Chronicle announcing the fund. I joined the board of AAHF, an opportunity to serve that brings me great joy.
Also, in 2020, we are committed to:
• Offering opportunities for more people on our team to do pro bono work. We want a bigger percentage of our team to participate because it feels good to share one’s talents with organizations that are changing people’s lives.
• Providing hands-on opportunities to volunteer each quarter. While we have long sorted food together at the Atlanta Community Food Bank, we are taking it up a notch this year. Last week, 17 members of our team packed 3,363 meals for hungry people at Open Hand Atlanta.
What we’re doing at Wilbert is part of a larger movement. Investors want to put money into companies that contribute to their communities, and employees are choosing to work at organizations that encourage them to volunteer.
What is your firm doing, and how are you telling that story?
