City of Refuge, a faith-based nonprofit that helps individuals and families transition out of crisis, must consistently tell its story and connect with donors and volunteers.
Since 2017, The Wilbert Group has delivered an ongoing media relations program that has netted consistent coverage and raised the nonprofit’s profile.
A few examples include: a story in the AJC about the success of the organization’s Tech Transformation Academy in placing aspiring tech professionals in lucrative jobs; a piece in Saporta Report about the City of Refuge opening a home for formerly incarcerated women; and a story in the Atlanta Business Chronicle announcing City of Refuge’s capital campaign that also led to an appearance by CEO Bruce Deel on the Chronicle’s “On Leadership” podcast.
Wilbert also creates omnichannel programs for big initiatives. When the nonprofit geared up to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2022, we created a communications program that included both digital and traditional PR. We nominated and secured a win for Deel for Atlanta Business Chronicle’s “Most Admired CEO” award. We generated coverage in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Atlanta Business Chronicle, Saporta Report, Urbanize Atlanta and all four broadcast stations in Atlanta. We also crafted a monthly social media series that featured more than a dozen “Stories of Impact” illustrating how the City of Refuge has transformed lives.
In another example, in 2019, we created a particularly robust program for The Gathering, the nonprofit’s annual fundraising event. This program included an online advertising campaign that drove ticket sales, a social media content series highlighting Atlanta chefs participating in the event and a recap video, which you can see it below:
