OAK

Growing roots before grand opening

Media Relations Social Media

When developer Ryan McNeill was ready to bring his vision to life for OAK, a walkable, mixed-use community in Oklahoma City, he called The Wilbert Group.

We began a years-long partnership to gain local favor for OAK, educate future consumers on the benefits of mixed-use, offer locals input through social media and secure media stories in both local and trade publications. We focused on custom pitching, project milestones and making the most of tenant announcements. When the property opened, we had already accomplished the following:

  • A social media audience of over 25,000 with an average of 215 engagements per post, far outpacing local competitors before the project even opened
  • Nearly 100 media hits with key placements in local, regional and trade publications
  • A naming campaign for the main greenspace, now dubbed Heartwood Park (with over 500 votes for the final name)

After the opening, we could not rest on our laurels. We needed a deliberate and proactive plan to keep the drumbeat going. In the year since grand opening, Wilbert has continued to establish OAK as the go-to place for dining, shopping and community in Oklahoma City.

The social media audience grew an additional 20,000 followers from November 2024 to November 2025 (now at 45,000 total). In that same time period, Wilbert secured nearly 90 media hits that garnered an estimated 3.13 million coverage views. Thousands of people have attended OAK’s signature events, such as OKC Thunder watch parties and OAK on Ice. Sales at OAK’s retailers, such as Pottery Barn, are outpacing stores in larger markets and OAK’s multifamily component is beating leasing goals.

As OAK expands, so does our partnership; we also now handle PR and social media for Lively Hotel on OAK and The Residences at OAK.
